BYCIT 2012

NABUA, Camarines Sur --- WRIans once again attended the 3rd Bicol Youth Congress in Information Technology (BYCIT) 2012 at Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC) Auditorium, Nabua, Camarines Sur last November 23-24, 2012.
BYCIT 2012 provided, yet again, another avenue to make the latest advancement and development in Information and Communication Technology accessible to the Bicolano youth by bearing the theme “ICT: Sustaining Future Professional Needs in Response to Economic Challenges.”
Ateneo de Naga Innovation Center Acting Director and Nueca, Inc. founder Magno Edilberto Conag III talked about his and his company’s contribution to mobile typhoon tracking and early warning which is the mobile application iTyphoon.
Other guests there were Cherry Mae R. Palacio (RGC, UP-Operations POEG Consultancy, Inc./IAESTE Accreditor in PACUCOA), representative of Luis Alberto Anastacio (President, SFI Career Center), Judy B. Wisehunt (VP for Operations, TeleDevelopment Services, Inc), Joseph FeuxPacamara (Senior Security Analyst/Consultant at Trend Micio), Engr. Grace M. Botor (Research Director, COMTECH Institute) and Clemton A. Peña (Associate Software Engineer Misys).
Different IT schools participated in the event, particularly Bicol University in Polangui, Albay, Ateneo de Naga, AMA Computer Colleges, WRI-Iriga, STI, Brentwood University in Naga City, University of Saint Anthony, University of North Eastern Philippines, La Consolacion College and many others.
The participants were welcomed by Challiz D. Omorog, Adviser of JPCS-CSPC, who also presided during the raffle of prizes for the enjoyment of the delegates. T-shirts, bags, bracelets and school supplies were given out to winners.
At the end of the event, there was a surprise selection for Mr. and Ms. BYCIT 2012, titles which were garnered by representatives from CSPC.
A series of technical sessions were graced by high-profile practitioners of the industry, government sector and the academe. During the event, the guests of honor talked about their valuable experiences and tips in developing solutions and systems in the industrial and business arena with respect to ICT.
